Best Geneva-on-the-Lake Wedding Locations

Updated: Jan 25

Geneva on the Lake is best known for it’s funky strip, Eddie's Grille Hot Dogs, arcade lights illuminating the streets, and sweeping breezy views of Lake Erie. This nostalgic tourist area has been bustling since the early 1900’s and is still a place where many visit year after year. For many, it has become a place to celebrate with family and friends who hold the strip in their sentimental hearts, and therefore, many are choosing this as a place to get married. Amongst all the bars, restaurants, and shops, there are a few places on The Strip to elope.

Below are a few of our favorite places:

The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake:

If you are looking to bring some guests along and need lodging, this is the place. This is the most expensive place on the list but the views are definitely what you’re paying for. The lodge can host parties upwards of 150+, however, our services are only offered for groups with 50 guests or and under.

If you are looking for a ceremony only, then heading out to the wineries, or The Strip afterwards, this is a great place to splurge and host your ceremony.

They also will host receptions as well.

Geneva Marina:

This location is great for a true elopement. Standing out on the pier as the waves crash in. Who could resist such a romantic setting as you say your vows to one another? There is no fee but you cannot make reservations either. This is a truly outdoor location so being up for a little bit of rain is a must. This is a spot for a true, two-person elopement.

The Geneva on the Lake Municipal Golf Course:

Looking to host your ceremony and mini reception all in one place. The Golf Course at Geneva on the Lake is now offering small weddings. The course has a small pavilion for a low fee, or tent rentals are allowed as well. Epic Elopements will assist with placing the reservation, setting up every detail at this location.

Afterwards, you can take a very short walk (or a golf cart) over to The Strip to celebrate with drinks at Sportsterz Bar and Grill, music at The Cove Niteclub, a donut at Madsen's Donuts, or a milkshake at Eddie's Grille (with two straws of course). The Strip is full of photo opportunities and an exciting night out for you two love birds, or the whole wedding party.

The Geneva Township Park:

If you are looking for a more low-key affair, you have a few options here. The park is open to the public but you can reserve a pavilion to host your celebration after your ceremony. True, two person elopements are great for this spot too. You can walk on down to the lakefront pier and walk way for lakefront ceremony. The city has recently been working on the park and controlling the erosion control so we are looking forward to a newly manicured park for 2023.

This place is a deal. Their 2022 rates are $40 for the day, and pavilions can hold between 100-200 people.

Breakwater Beach

Great for elopements with just a few people, or just the two of you. Breakwater beach is very large with a walking trail behind the beach into the woods. So, its’ not only good for navigating the beach and not having to trudge through the sand in your wedding day best, but also great for pictures as it gives you some great and different photo opportunities in the same place.

This location does not require a permit or fee, but it is open to the public and not recommended for weddings with guests. This is a beautiful location for two person elopements.

Harbor Yak:

Did someone say adventure? This place isn’t located in Geneva, OH, but a short trip will take you into the Ashtabula Harbor District that is home to Harbor Yak.

You can rent a kayak or a boat to take out to the break wall and get married on the sandbar over looking the water. A sunset or sunrise elopement on the rocks overlooking the water is only beautiful and a great place for photos, but it's pretty epic.
